Legislative Survey response: Jesse Bennett, candidate for WI Assembly District 49:

1) Will you vote for or sponsor legislation to allow the tax-free medicinal use of cannabis upon the recommendation of a physician?
I would vote for. I would consider sponsorship pending discussion with constituents.

2) Will you vote for or sponsor legislation to create a taxed and regulated market for recreational cannabis products?
I support legalizing possession (limited quantity) and personal use of cannabis. Long-term statistics clearly show it to be far safer than nearly all recreational and medicinal drugs, both legal and illegal. I am generally opposed to commercialization of intoxicants (i.e. legalizing the promotion, sale, and marketing of cannabis), though I would entertain the concept of a regulated market (due to the fact that tax revenue is commonly a primary driver for enacting decriminalization). I am opposed to unrestricted availability of all THC-containing products (e.g. processed ultra-high potency products).

3) Will you vote for or sponsor legislation allowing adults in Wisconsin to grow up to ten cannabis plants for personal use?
I would vote for. I would consider sponsorship pending discussion with constituents.

4) Will you vote for or sponsor legislation to allow Wisconsin farmers’ to grow agricultural hemp for the industrial and commercial markets?
I would vote for. I would consider sponsorship pending discussion with constituents.

5) Will you vote for or sponsor legislation to allow for the expungement of prior marijuana convictions?
I would vote for. I would consider sponsorship pending discussion with constituents.

Let me know if you have questions, etc.
